The following article was found in the Feb. 17, 1949, Lowell Tribune on page 2, column 3:

SERVICES HELD FOR PFC. ROBERT E. HAJIC

Reburial services were held Saturday, February 12th, at Berwyn, Illinois, for Pfc. Robert E. Hajic, USNCR, a member of Carlsons Raiders who was killed November 8th, 1943, on Bougainville Island in the South Pacific.

Robert, a nephew of Mrs. Carl Mahler, worked for his uncle Carl and made his home with them for several years before enlisting in the service, so was well known among Lowell's younger set.

Those from here who attended the services were: Mrs. Carl Mahler, Mrs. Bernice Carlson and children, Joie and Karleen, Mrs. V. Fehlman, Donald Nelson and Mrs. Dean Glover of Crown Point.

(NOTE: The correct spelling of Bernice Carlson's last name is "Karlsson.")
