A Jan. 14, 1943, Lowell Tribune article (page 1, column 2) about Harold M. Heuson going into the service also lists Robert L. Parks as leaving for the induction center at Ft. Benjamin Harrison.
A January 21, 1943, Lowell Tribune article (page 2, column 1) stated that Robert L. Patrks was sent to Camp McCain, Mississippi, for basic training.

Writes from Mississippi Camp
A letter received from Pvt. Robert Parks, who is stationed in a medical detachment at Camp McCain, Miss., says he likes army life and everything was going fine when he wrote. Bob wishes us to say hello for him. He also added, for the benefit of our shivering residents, that the temperature was 80 degrees.This Lowell Tribune article was found in the March 30, 1944, issue (page 2, column 3):
- Pfc. Robert Parks, attending radio school at Truax Field, Wis., spent a few hours at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Parks last Thursday night.
- Another son, S/Sgt. Walter Parks, is "somewhere in the Pacific" and although letters come through from him regularly, his last known address was Honolulu where he was stationed last New Year's.
- A third son of the Parks', Pvt. Harvey Parks, enlisted in the Marine Corps a few weeks ago, and is now taking his basic training at San Diego, Calif.
