Sperenza Lenora Holtz Ferguson (1852-1921)

- Mrs. Sperenza Ferguson, who has been sick for some time, passed away Tuesday evening at 5 o'clock. Funeral services will be held at the Christian church tomorrow (Friday) at 2 p.m.
This April 28, 1921, Lowell Tribune obituary appeared on page 1, column 4:
- Mrs. Sperenza Lenora (Holtz) Ferguson was born at Canton, Ohio, April 24, 1852, and passed away at her home in Lowell, Tuesday, April 19, 1921, aged 68 years, 11 months and 25 days.
She was united in marriage with George Ferguson, September 28, 1870. To this union were born four children: one son, William; three daughters, Atossa Ferguson, Mrs. Lucille Bahr, and Mrs. May Trump. These four children together with five grandsons, Ernest, Milford and Neil Bahr, Harold and Robert Trump, are left to mourn her departure. One grand-son, Harry Bahr, is deceased. She was the last of a family of four children.
Mrs. Ferguson came from Canton, Ohio, to Elkhart, Ind. After her marriage she removed to Lowell and then to South Dakota, and after living there some time Mrs. Ferguson together with her family again came to Lowell and remained a resident until the time of her departure to the spirit land.
She united with the Baptist church when in her early girlhood. In Lowell she became a member of the Church of Christ with which she continued, to the close of life. She was a patient sufferer in the last year of her illness and awaited the end with a calm expectation, as evidenced, when it is known, she arranged all details concerning her funeral services.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ, Friday, April 22nd, Rev. Harry Hamilton officiating. Undertaker William Sheets had charge of the burial service. Interment in Lowell cemetery.
