BIRTHDAY SURPRISE
On Sunday evening, January 17, a number of young people dropped in to help Ernest Bahr celebrate his birthday. The evening was passed quickly in playing pinochle and visiting. Neil Bahr proved to be the best pinochle player of the men, and Wesley Hayden got the booby prize. Mrs. Leeon Cobb won first and Mrs. Milford Bahr won the booby prize for the ladies.At a late hour refreshments consisting of sandwiches, pickles, cake, and coffee were served, after which the guests departed wishing Ernest many happy returns of the day.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Hayden, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Bahr, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Buche, Mr. and Mrs. Milford Bahr, Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Paulsen, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Worley, Mr. and Mrs. Leeon Cobb, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Woods and daughter, Gilbert Westerburg, Miss Violet Paulsen, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bahr and son Clayton Dean.
The following August 3, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 3:
- Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. August Hadders were Sgt. and Mrs. John Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Baxter, Betty Baxter, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bahr and Janice, and Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Kingery.
