A copy of the following unidentified newspaper obituary was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

Died at Rose Lawn, Ind., Tuesday morning, Oct. 16, 1894, Mrs. Susan, wife of Isaac Handley. Was born in Lake County, Jan. 11, 1838. Interred in the Orchard Grove cemetery Thursday, Oct. 18. With the exception of twelve years in Kankakee County, Illinois, has been a resident of Lake County, until the removal to Newton County in 1891. She leaves husband and one son, Jas. W., to mourn their loss.
