A copy of the following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
    Mrs. Emily Handley, widow of the late Thompson Handley, died this morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Jesson, 65 Sherman Avenue, after having been ill for the past seven weeks with a complication of heart and kidney trouble. Mrs. Handley was born at West Creek, Ind., sixty-one years ago. Her maiden name was Emily Spaulding. She was married to Thompson Handley and they lived for a number of years on a farm in Indiana and afterward moved to Chicago. Mr. Handley has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Jesson. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. William Jesson, and Mrs. F.F. Armstrong, of this city, and one son, Otto Handley, of Elkhart, Ind. Mrs. Handley has been a member of the M.E. church for many years. Funeral services at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Dr. F.A. Gould, of the M.E. church.
