William Newby Johnson (1850-1920)

The following November 18, 1920, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 2:
    William Newby Johnson was born in Appomattox County, Va., March 20, 1850, and died in Lowell, Ind., November 13, 1920.

    He came to Illinois in 1866 and has lived in the vicinity of Lowell the greater part of his life. He leaves to mourn his loss, three brothers, John F. of Kansas City, Kansas; Charles D. of Enos, Ind.; James E. of Lowell; one sister, Lucy E. Hoevet, of Fairfield, Nebr.

    Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the home of James E. Johnson. Rev. C.A. Brown, pastor of the M.E. church, officiated.

    William Sheets had charge of the burial service. Interment in the Lowell cemetery.
