Cpl. Dickie Childress Claims Miss Wyona McDole As His Bride
Beautiful poinsettias decorated the chancel of the Hobart Methodist church on Saturday, Dec. 22nd, when Cpl. Walter D. Childress of the United States Air Force, claimed as his bride, Miss Wyona McDole. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter D. Childress of Lowell and the bride is the foster daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Shell of Hobart.The single ring ceremony was solemnized by the pastor, Rev. Adams, at 11 a.m. The church organist accompanied Frank Childress, cousin of the groom, as he sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "Wonderful One."
Pink accessories made attractive color contrast for the charcoal grey wool suit chosen by Miss McDole for her wedding costume. Her corsage featured pink roses. Brown accessories and a white carnation corsage accented the beige wool suit worn by Mrs. Robert Shell, sister-in-law of the bride, for her role as matron of honor.
Jerry Childress attended his brother as best man.
Guests were seated by George Wilkening of Beecher, brother-in-law of the groom, and Raymond Shell, foster brother of the bride.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Shell chose a green suit with brown accessories and Mrs. Childress combined winter white with navy blue pin check. Each wore a corsage of white chrysanthemums.
Following the nuptial rites, family members were entertained at breakfast in the home of the bride's parents. An evening reception was held at the Indian Trail Grange hall.
The bride attended Hobart high school and the groom, a graduate of Lowell high school in 1950, has been in the air force for the past one and one-half years.
The couple left Wednesday morning for Travers Air Force Base, California, where he is stationed.
