Charles and Ida Berdine with neice Denise Franklin

This photo is from the collection of Denise Frashour Franklin. She identified the people as her great aunt and uncle, Charles and Ida Naomi (nee Frashour) Berdine. Ida Berdine was the daughter of Frank and Addie Naomi (nee Worley) Frashour. Denise Franklin added this information:
- Ida Frashour, married to Charles Berdine, has a son Cedric. He just showed me, a couple of weeks ago, a story he had written about his family on the Berdine side. But it had some wonderful stories about Aunt Ida and Uncle Charlie. Things that happened to them during their life -- for instance, when Dillinger escaped from prison in Crown Point in the 30's. He stopped by the gas station that Ida and Charles owned and Aunt Ida pumped him some gas for the get away car, then gave him directions. Of course, she had no idea who he was at the time. But when the police came by soon after, she was able to tell them exactly the way he went. Aunt Ida said later, "Well, he seemed like a very nice fella. He was very polite."
Also, Uncle Charles was once kidnapped by some hillbillies that didn't know how to drive and wanted to get back down South. So they made him drive them and then let him go unharmed to drive home. He had to knock on doors, though, until he could get someone to believe him that he had run out of gas and had no money.
