Rosalia "Rose" Bisig Newsbaum Gillard (1877-1925)

The following information comes from Mrs. Rochelle Bisig Gereg:
- Rose Gillard was Charles John Bisig's sister. They were the children of John and Franziska "Frances" Bisig and lived in the Lowell, Indiana, vicinity when they were young.
Rose was married two times -- first to Frank J. Newsbaum, second to Thomas Gillard. She had four sons -- Oscar Bisig, Louis, Lawrence, and Arthur Samuel Newsbaum. She was killed in Chicago, Illinois, June 19, 1925. Oscar lived with his grandmother Frances Bisig until her death, then he lived with his mother [Rose] until he married. Oscar married Alta "Peggy" Light. Lowell relatives had close contact with Oscar, but did not know Rose's other children.
The following photocopy came from the Illinois Regional Archives Depository and was dated June 19, 1925:
- Gillard, Rose -- Age 48 -- Shot to death at 6:40 P.M. at home, 120 So. Wood St., by Charles Hammerle, who attempted to kill his wife, Jennie, from whom he was separated, and himself. He did not die, and on 6/25/25 was held by the Coroner. He accused Mrs. Gillard of being the cause of the separation between his wife and himself.
