- EDGAR HAYDEN, son of Nehimiah and Harriet (Kitchell) Hayden, was born on the old Hayden homestead in West Creek Township, Lake County, Indiana, October 16, 1840 and died at his home in Lowell at 8:15 a.m., Thursday, March 22, 1906, at the age of 65 years, 6 months, and 6 days. His sickness -- heart and kidney trouble -- dates back over two years, during which time he was subject to very serious attacks; his life at times being despaired of, but he would rally and get up and around. His funeral occurred Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at West Creek church; a short service being held at the house. Rev. D. Idle, pastor of the M.E. Church, Lowell, preached the funeral discourse. The M.E. Church choir furnished the music. Funeral director John Castle had charge of the burial service. The following nephews acted as pall bearers: Grant Hayden, Merrit Hayden, Fred Hayden, Elmer Hayden, Thomas Hayden, Wallace Hayden.
Interment in the West Creek cemetery. He leaves his wife, two children, several grandchildren, four brothers, Jacob, Lewis, Cyrus, and William, two sisters, Mrs. P.A.
