Edward "Ed" "Eddie" Kuiper
- Mr. and Mrs. Chris Kuiper and Mr. and Mrs. George Hathaway called at Fort Benjamin Harrison last Friday to pick up Bob Hathaway, who went with them to Camp Atterbury to visit Ed Kuiper, stationed there. They spent a very pleasant evening with the boys. Eddie says that for just one week in the service he believes he's going to like army life. On Saturday he left for a new destination.
This December 14, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
Lowell Boys Spend Day Together
A letter received by the Chris Kuipers from their son, Pvt. Edward Kuiper, stationed at Ft. McClennan, Ala., where he is taking training, says that he and two other Lowell boys spent the Sunday before together. The other two boys were Pvt. James Marshall and Pvt. Hollis Meyer. Edward said they were all O.K. and enjoyed the day very much.This July 5, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
- The Christ Kuipers received a phone message from their son, Pvt. Edward Kuiper, saying he was at an embarkation point and would soon be leaving with his outfit for overseas duty. Edward was home on furlough a short time ago.
This article was found in the Lowell Tribune, May 26, 1949, page 5, column 4:
- Ed Kuiper flew to Phoenix, Arizona, where his mother, sister, and brother, Doris and Chris, have spent the winter in an effort to improve Mrs. Kuiper's health. A letter back home informs Mr. Kuiper that Ed is enjoying his trip immensely, his first vacation since his return from Japan. With the thermometer registering the temperature at 96 degrees, summer there is in full sway. Ed flew out so he could chauffeur the family home for Decoration Day.
