    Obituary

Cyrus Pattee was born in Milan township, Huron county, Ohio, on October 9, 1830. He left there with his parents at the age of six and came to LaPorte county, Indiana. In 1861 or 1862, they moved into Yellowhead township, Kankakee county, Ill., to what is known as the old Louis Pattee place, where Cyrus and his father built a house and established a home. Cyrus remained there with his parents until after his marriage to Nancy Fleming on February 1, 1865. He and his wife then moved into a house built by him on the west line of his farm, where he lived and raised his family. He moved his buildings over from the west line of the farm to the state line of the same about 1880, where he lived until 1900, from where he moved to Lowell. Since that time he has lived in Lowell. His wife, Nancy A. Pattee, departed this life on the 20th day of May, 1916, and since her death he has declined very rapidly.

Of his immediate family he leaves surviving four sons, Lewis A., of Lowell; Dr. James J., of Pueblo, Colo.; Cyrus E., of South Bend; and Frank B., of Crown Point.

Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon and they were attended by a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends. Rev. J.J. Simpson, pastor of the Presbyterian church, preached the funeral sermon, assisted by Rev. V.B. Servies, of the M.E. church. Rev. Murphy sang several songs. Interment was made in the Lowell cemetery. Undertaker John Castle had charge of the burial service. The four sons of the deceased, Lewis, Frank, Jay and Edward and two grandsons, Gilbert and Roy Pattee, acted as pall bearers.
