The following unidentified newspaper article was in a collection owned by Lowell Town Historian Richard Schmal:
    John Tramm was born in Germany November 24, 1824, and died suddenly of heart failure at his home in Lowell, March 6, 1903, at the advanced age of 78 years, 3 months and 12 days. His sickness was very short, having been sick only about four hours. October 1, 1856, he came to America, and on the 14th day of March 1859, he was untied in marriage with Louisa Trobach. To this union ten children were born, six boys and four girls, all of which survive their father. He lived in Chicago till 1867, when he moved to his farm in Will county, Ill., where he lived till 4 years ago, when he moved to Lowell, where he has since lived. Mr. Tramm was a quiet, unassuming man, and a gentleman who was very highly respected by all who knew him for his honesty and integrity. His funeral occurred from the Methodist church, Lowell, at one o'clock p.m., Monday, the 9th inst. Rev. D.D. Hoagland pastor of [the] Methodist church preached the funeral discourse. Funeral Director C.E. Binyon was in charge of the burial service. The following old friends and neighbors acted as pall-bearers: M.A. Halsted, Oliver Surprise, Amos Thompson, H.H. Purdy, Edgar Hayden and Cyrus Pattee. Interment in the Lowell cemetery. He leaves his wife, ten children twenty-four grand-children, nephew, brother-in-law and a large circle of friends to mourn his demise, to whom we extend sympathy and condolence in their great bereavement.

The following unidentified newspaper article (ca. 1904) was found in a scrapbook owned by Betty Burton of Lowell:
    E.E. Duckworth auctioned off 37 ½ acres of timberland belonging to the estate of the late John Tramm, Friday, which brought $68 per acre, John Linderman being the purchaser. The price secured was very satisfactory to Wm. F. Tramm, the administrator of the estate.
