The following August 10, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 5:

    OWEN PETERSON PASSED AWAY LAST WEDNESDAY

    Owen Peterson, 68, who has been in ill health for several years, passed away last Wednesday night at the Ida Miller nursing home, in Gary. He was born and reared here and had been a life-long resident of Lowell with the exception of several years when he was employed at Valparaiso and Rensselaer.

    He leaves his wife; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Bennett of Lowell and Mrs. Charles Bisig of Steger, Ill.; one brother, Edward of Shelby, and numerous other relatives.

    Funeral services were held at the Sheets funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday, the services being conducted by Rev. E.L. Worley. Interment, in charge of Kenneth Sheets, was made in Lowell cemetery.
