Martha F. Wheeler Brunham (1839-1924)

- Martha F., youngest daughter of Johnson and Sally Wheeler, was born September 24, 1839, and passed away at her home in Lowell, May 18, 1924. She was married to Z.C. Burnham , July 3, 1857, and nearly 67 years have walked life's highway together in this vicinity.
Mrs. Burnham was the mother of three sons and one daughter: Herm, Fred, Kelly and Jessie, two having preceded her, two remain. She had her own religious views in which she trusted God to the last. She was a loving wife, a good mother and a companionable neighbor. In her passing she leaves to mourn her husband, two sons, Herm and Fred, and a great host of relatives and neighbors. Mrs. Burnham was one of our oldest and most highly respected ladies. She was a woman who stayed at home a great deal, feeling that her duty was to make home comfortable for her family, She had a wide acquaintance and her large circle of friends feel that in her death they have lost a very good friend.
Funeral services were held at the home at 2 p.m. Tuesday and there was a large number of her old friends and neighbors in attendance. Rev. C.A. Brown, pastor of the Lowell M.E. church, [preached] the funeral sermon. Interment was made in the Lowell cemetery. Undertaker Weaver had charge of the burial service.
