Alva V. Clark

Alva V. Clark

A photocopy in the local history clipping files at Lowell Public Library (Vital Statistics, vol. 1, page 79) reported that Alva V. Clark, son of Joseph Addison Clark and Harriet Story Clark, was a drummer boy during the Civil War. (This article listed his name as both Alva V. and Alda S. Clark, and the Three Creeks Monument lists an A.V. Clark.)

Alva was taken prisoner and sent to Libby Prison, where he became ill. He was discharged and sent home, where he died only two days after his arrival. Two of his brothers, George S. and Joseph A., also served in the war.
