FUNERAL SERVICES SUNDAY FOR MRS. IZA JANE COBB
Lowell suffered the loss of a pioneer resident Friday, April 11, when Mrs. Iza Jane Cobb passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. John (Vinnie) Hayhurst of West Commercial Avenue, with whom she had made her home for about the past 10 years.Born in Lowell on March 20, 1866, Iza Jane was the daughter of Steven Shirley and Mary Allen, early Lowell settlers. She spent the entire 86 years and 22 days of her lifetime in Lowell, where she was a member of the Church of Christ.
On November 19, 1884, she was united in marriage to Charley E. Cobb and they were the parents of eight children to whom she devoted her attentions. Her husband and four children preceded her in death. Also one brother, Will Shirley, and three sisters, Mrs. Lura Cleaver, Mrs. Etta Harris and Mrs. Anna Dickinson.
Survivors include four children, Leeon Cobb, Clarence Cobb, Vessie Smith, and Belva Davis; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and five sisters, Mrs. John Hayhurst and Mrs. Thuel Hayden of Lowell, Mrs. Eva Brown, Mrs. Unice Taylor and Mrs. Elsie Texter of Chicago.
Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. Easter Sunday, in the Weaver funeral home, with Rev. E. L. Worley officiating. Interment was in the Lowell cemetery in charge of John Eskridge.
