John Charles Allison (1901-1921)
- John Charles Allison, son of Eva and John W. Allison, was born June 30, 1901, near Gardner, Ill., and died October 3, 1921, at the age of 20 years, 3 months and 3 days. His untimely death came as a great shock to his many friends and relatives. He was ill only two days. The cause of death was spinal meningitis.
He lived with his father until two years ago when he went to Chicago to live, being employed in the Chicago post-office. This summer he has spent with his sister, Mrs. Erma Black, near Schneider, Ind., where he died. His sister and brother-in-law were at his bedside when the end came.
Charles was a good hearted young man. His sunny disposition and broad smile won him a large circle of friends wherever he went. His mother and 3 brothers have preceded him in death. His mother passed away when he was scarcely 7 years old; two brothers died in infancy and a brother, Elmer, passed away in May 1921.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Allison, two half-brothers, three half-sisters, and a step-sister, of Momence, Ill.; three sisters, Eleanor, of Van Wert, Ohio; Eva Dorothy, of Momence; and Mrs. Erma Black, of Schneider; two brothers, Rev. George Allison, of Indianapolis, and Ira S. of the University of Minnesota. A host of other relatives and friends join with these in mourning the departure of one just entering the prime of life. Surely he deserved a long, happy and useful life.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 6, at the home of Louis Black, west of Schneider, Rev. C.A. Brown officiating. Interment at Lowell. Undertaker William Sheets had charge of the burial service.
