The following January 21, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
- Lieut. John Keithley, son of Geo. Keithley, has been made a flight officer at Colorado Springs. John won his wings several months ago
This May 4, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
- Lt. John Keithley, son of George Keithley, arrived home Saturday from overseas duty with the U.S. air corps. Because of strict militaty censorship, no details of his whereabouts the past few months could be revealed by the young bomber pilot. While on a 30-day furlough, John will visit his sister, Mrs. Theodore Nomanson of Lowell, and his father and sisters, Mrs. Franklin Peterson and Mrs. Milton Evans of Valparaiso, and Miss Alice at Gary.
The following November 2, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 4:
RUTH HATHAWAY AND LIEUT. JOHN KEITHLEY MARRIED
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hathaway announce the marriage of their daughter, Ruth, to Lieut. John L. Keithley, son of George Keithley, on Saturday, Oct. 28th, at the home of the bride's parents. The ceremony was performed by Rev. H.M. Braun of the Methodist church, in the presence of immediate relatives of the bride and groom. The same service was read for the bride's parents 30 years before, on Oct. 28th.Mrs. Harold Strickland played "Because" and "I Love You Truly," followed by the wedding march from Lohengrin.
The bride, who wore a beige gabardine suit with brown accessories, was given in marriage by her father. Her corsage consisted of two orchids and she wore a beautiful lavaliere, a gift of the groom.
The maid-of-honor, Dorothy Hathaway, sister of the bride, wore an aqua gabardine suit with black accessories and a corsage of yellow roses.
The groom was accompanied by his brother, Richard Keithley, Apprentice Seaman, U.S. Navy.
The home was beautifully decorated with white and yellow chrysanthemums.
After the ceremony, a reception was held for approximately ninety relatives, after which the bride and groom left on a short trip.
Mrs. Keithley will accompany her husband to Orlando, Fla., where he is now stationed.
The following November 9, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5 column 3:
- Lt. and Mrs. John Keithley, who were recently married, left Monday for Winter Park, Fla., where they will reside while Lt. Keithley is stationed at the air field near there.
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the April 12, 1945, issue (page 2, column 1):
- Lt. John Keithley, B-24 bomber pilot, stationed at Kissimee, Florida, army air field, where he is doing experimental work, came home via plane to Chicago, Friday for a three day visit with his father, George Keithley, his two sisters, and his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hathaway.
This August 2, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 3:
- Lt. and Mrs. John Keithley have been here from Orlando, Fla., visiting relatives and friends. He reported back at his base for duty, Saturday.
