A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the Dec. 8, 1955, Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    Memorial Rites Held Wednesday for Mrs. Paul Brooks

    Mrs. Paul (Lodema Tuttle) Brooks, 30, passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, following four months of illness.

    She was born in Lowell, Jan. 8, 1925, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ike Tuttle. She was educated in Lowell schools and on April 5, 1945, was married to Paul Brooks. The couple and their two children, Steven, 8, and Cathy, 5, resided at Cedar Lake.

    Surviving besides her husband, children, and parents are three brothers, Lamar Tuttle of Hammond, Bob Tuttle of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Russell Tuttle of Crown Point; three sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Huber of East Gary, Mrs. Edna Ruth Kearns of Chicago Heights, and Mrs. Marian Seramur of Lowell.

    The Rev. Charles Sites of Cedar Lake and Rev. Loren Holt of Lowell officiated at memorial services held Wednesday, December 7, at 2 p.m. in the Eskridge Funeral Home. Interment, made in the Lowell cemetery, was in charge of John Eskridge.
