The following September 28, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5 column 3:
- A linen shower in honor of Mrs. Charles Osborn, the former Marjorie Childress, was given by Mrs. Walter Smith last week. The sixteen guests invited by Mrs. Smith were Mrs. Osborn's grandmothers and her aunts. Aeroplane bunco was played with the prizes being presented to the guest of honor after the games. Mrs. Osborn also received many other gifts. The hostess served a chicken salad lunch to the guest. Last Saturday night, a dance and miscellaneous shower was given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Osborn at Center school.
