Roger Steward
A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the Dec. 29, 1955, Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
- Mrs. Dessie Steward, M/Sgt. and Mrs. Roy Steward and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Steward and family were Sunday dinner guests of the Roger Stewards in Lafayette. The Roy Stewards left for Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda this morning (Thursday).
The following July 27, 1972, Lowell Tribune obituary was found on page 5, column 3:
- Roger Steward, age 64 years, of Seminole, Florida, passed away May 13, 1972, after several years of illness.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Steward of Lowell. He was born and reared here and was a graduate of Lowell High School.
Roger had lived in Lafayette for many years where he was employed by the General Telephone Co. He retired two years ago and moved to Florida.
His survivors are his wife, Virginia; a son, Donald, and a daughter, Mrs. Dennis Cooper (Janet) of Elkhart; five grandsons; and a brother Glenn, of Ellenton, Florida, and Lowell.
Services were held in Seminole, Florida, after which the body was taken to Lafayette, where interment was made.
