Grandma Uhter Dead
Sophia Schmedica was born in Germany, Sept. 13, 1836; came with her husband to America in 1855, settling in Missouri during the civil war. She moved to Lake County, Indiana, about 1866 where she lived until her death.She was married to Henty Uhter Oct. 16th, 1855, and to this union eleven children were born two of which died when small. Other two, Mrs. Clara Haack and Miss Sophia died recently. She leaves to mourn her departure three sons, Lewis, William and John and four daughters, Mrs. Gus Westberg, Mrs. H. Worley, Mrs. John Worley and Mrs. Wm. Shurte. Also forty-three grand children, forty-three great grand children and two great great grand children. In addition to these there are four sisters and one brother who survive.
While her death _______________________________________ that she was soon to go. The end came at the family residence near Shelby Aug. 16, 1921. She was 84 years, 11 months and three days old when the summons came.
She became a member of the German Lutheran church when young and remained a believer in the teaching of that body until death. The funeral services were conducted at the home on Aug. 18th by Elder J.I. Brimberry, minister of the Christian church at Lowell, Ind. The body was prepared and conveyed to its last resting place in the Lowell Cemetery by undertaker Weaver who had charge of the burial service. Those acting as pall-bearers were Messrs Albert Haack, Ed. Haack, Wm. Uhter, Chas. Uhter, Harry Worley and Bert Worley.
