The following May 5, 1960, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 2:

"Tina" Worley, Lifetime Lowell Resident, Dies

Christina ("Tina" Uhter) Worley, 89, a lifetime resident of the Lowell community, passed away at Gary Methodist hospital Apeil 29.

Mrs. Worley was born near Lowell January 7, 1871, the daughter of Henry and Sophia Uhter. In 1891 she was united in marriage to John H. Worley who passed away June 26, 1930. They were the parents of 12 children; a son Forrest preceded his mother in death.

Mrs. Worley's life was spent in and around Lowell except for a short time she and her family spent on a farm in Texas.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. May 2 in the Sheets Funderal Home with Rev. E.L. Worley, a brother-in-law, officiating, and she was laid to rest beside her husband in the Lowell cemetery.

Survivors include eleven children, Arthur of California, Henry of Gulfport, Miss., Mrs. Sadie Spencer of Lowell, Mrs. Ada Forney of Gary, Harry of Chicago, Mrs. Edna Herron of Valparaiso, Mrs. Ross Etzel of Thayer, Mrs. Mary Reed of Schneider, Mrs. Della Molenaar of Rensselaer, Mrs. Violet Mott of Gary and Mrs. Myrtle Call of Roselawn; also 59 grandchildren, 89 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; and a host of friends to whom she was affectionately known as Grandma Worley.

NOTE: Probably the name "Mrs. Ross Etzel" was a typographical error. The name should have been "Mrs. Rose Etzel." Also, in this article, the birthdate of Christina Uhter Worley was listed as Jan. 7, 1871. The cemetery book at the library lists her birth year as 1870, as copied from the gravestone.

The actual death certificate of Christina Worley (State No. 013302) shows the following: She died Apr. 29, 1960, in Gary Methodist Hospital in Lake County. Born to Henry Uhter and Sophia Schmedica in Lowell on Jan. 7, 1871, she was 89 years old when she died. She was a housewife. This information was provided by her daughter, Mrs. Mary Reed of Schneider.
