At least one Tuthill (Tuttle) family existed in the Lake and Porter County areas during the Civil War era and after, but not all the relationships of the people have been positively connected. The following pieces of information were gathered by Roestta Hotler of Lowell:

    William F. Tuthill was born September 07, 1811, and died November 22, 1893, in Lowell, Lake Co., IN. Burial: about November 23, 1893, Lowell Memorial Cemetery, Lowell, Lake Co., IN. He married Emiline C. Tuthill. She was born July 02, 1820, and died June 09, 1889, in Lowell, Lake Co., IN. Burial in Lowell Memorial Cemetery, Lowell, Lake Co., IN

    from the Lake County and Crown Point, Indiana Index to Birth Records A-Z 1921-1941:

      Richard A. Tuthill, white male, was born to Marion Tuthill and Tille Kruta Tuthill on Nov. 14, 1933. (Record H-28, 2)

      Norma Gene Tuff, white female, was born to Henry Tuff and Nora Tuthill Tuff on Dec. 4, 1932. (Record H-16, 30)

    Notes about M.E. Tuthill:

      His name is on Lowell Civil War Monument.

      This information came from a request from Rosetta Hotler to the the Colfax Lodge, secretary. she received a phone call from Mr. Allen Miller, lodge secretary, on July 7, 2001, with official records of lodge:

      M.E. Tuthill became a member of the Lowell, Indiana, Colfax Lodge in 1869, and was demerit in 1883 or dropped for unknown reason. Could have moved, etc. Many lodge records were burned in a fire years ago. This lodge also had a member, John W. Tuttle.
