William Dohrman (1853-1929)
Birthday Surprise
Wednesday, February 17th was the 62nd birthday anniversary of William Dohrman, who has been with Mr. and Mrs. Chas H. Rudolph the past sixteen years. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph planned a small surprise on him, which surely did surprise him, when in the evening about 7:30 Mr. and Mrs. William Oltrogge and daughter, Alice, Mr. and Mrs. William Bruce and family, George Sautter, Misses Anna and Clara Einspahr, Mr. and Mrs. Ed P. Hoevet and son, Lemar, Miss Grace Rudolph, Arthur and Sylvia Rudolph, came in and put a great surprise over Mr. Dohrman. The evening was pleasantly spent in visiting and at 9:30 a luncheon was served, which was enjoyed by all. His friends hope that he may be spared to spend many more such happy birthdays.The following January 31, 1929, Lowell Tribune obituary appeared on page 1, column 5:
- Mr. William Dohrman was born in Germany, February 17th, 1853.
Died January 25th, 1929, at the Odd Fellow's home at Matoon, Illinois, age 75 years, 11 months and 8 days.
The funeral services were held at the Kruegel Chapel at Blue Island Ill., in charge of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Monday afternoon 1:30.
He had been a member of the Odd Fellow's Lodge 43 years.
Interment in the Beecher cemetery.
He came to America when a small boy, always worked in and around Beecher, and Solitt, Illinois; for 23 years he worked as hired man for Mr. and Mrs. Chas Rudolph, about four years ago he decided to go to the Odd Fellows Home, where he died with the flu and heart trouble. He was sick only two days.
He leaves to mourn a sister-in-law, several nephews and nieces, many other relatives and friends.
