Annice A. Fuller Phillips (1833-1906)

- Annice A. Fuller was born in Chautauqua county, N.Y., March 23, 1833. She came with her parents while young to Oakland county, Michigan, where, October 8, 1853, she was joined in marriage with Norton J. Phillips. To this union one child was born, now Mrs. W.C. Hale, of North Liberty, Ind. In the fall of 1854 she came with her husband to Crete, Ill., and in the spring of 1855 they came to this section, settling on the farm of Geo. W. Lawrence, Sr., south of Lowell. In a few years they moved to Lowell, where she has ever since resided with the exception of a couple of years she spent at Camp Denison, Cincinnati, as nurse to her husband, who was transferred from the army to the invalid corps. Her death occurred at noon November 28, 1906. She was 73 years, 8 months and 5 days old at the time of her death. She was a woman of rare social qualities, with a good word for everyone and ever ready to render assistance to those in need. She was very highly respected by all her acquaintances and will be sincerely mourned by all her numerous friends.
Her funeral occurred from her late home at 2 p.m. Saturday and was very largely attended. Mrs. A.M. Hootman preached the funeral discourse. Funeral Director John Castle had charge of the burial. Interment in the Lowell cemetery. Dan Lynch, G.S. Clark, P.A. McNay, T.W. Cushman, J.M. Castle and W.C. Nichols acted as pall-bearers. She leaves her husband, one daughter Mrs. W.C. Hale, of North Liberty, Ind., several nephews and nieces and other relatives to mourn her, to whom we extend sincere sympathy in their hour of sorrow and bereavement.
