Birthday Surprise
Sunday, May 1, being Mrs. Henry Hasemann's birthday, her niece Mrs. Archie Doty planned a surprise for her and it surely was a surprise. The evening was spent in playing games, music and social chatter. At about 12 o'clock a lunch of sandwiches, coffee and cake was served. An enjoyable evening was spent by all.Those present were Messrs and Mesdames Wm. Schuppe, George Guritz, Wm. Oltrogge, Gus Erickson, Archie Doty, Henry Schmidt, Fred Hasemann, August Frobose, Wm. Russel and Henry Hasemann; Misses Emma Schweppe, Bertha Guritz, Alice Oltrogge, Ruth Frobose, Helen and Nelda Hasemann, Nelda, Della and Evelyn Doty, Marie Erickson, Anna Guritz and Elnore Hasemann; Messrs William and Fred Schweppe, John Schmidt, Harry Erickson, George and William Schmidt, William and Clarence Hasemann and Arthur Guritz.
This May 14, 1925, Lowell Tribune obituary appeared on page 3, column 2:
- Emma Mina Guritz was born May 1, 1878, at Beecher, Ill., she was confirmed March 22nd, 1891, at St. Johannis Evangelical Church by Rev. G. Koch. On March 3rd, 1889, she was married to Henry Haseman, of Beecher, Ill. To this union were born four children -- William, Helen, Hilda and Clarence. She passed away at her home near Beecher. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, four children, her mother, Mrs. Guritz, of Beecher, Ill., three brothers, John, Louis and George, of Beecher; the sisters, Mrs. Mary Foy, of Fort Ripley, Minn.; Mrs. Sophia Rudolph, of Lowell, Indiana; Mrs. Bertha Wilkening, of Momence, Ill.; one half-brother, August, of Beecher; three half-sisters, Mrs. Caroline Bergmier, of Jackson, Minn.; Mrs. Mollie Loreng, of Green Garden, Ill.; Mrs. Friederika Wehrman, of Beecher, Ill.
Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. Friday, May 8, 1925, in St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church at Petersburg, in charge of Rev. K.A. Geunther.
The music was furnished by Aug Haack. Pall bearers, her six nephews, Harry Tatge, Roland Rudolph, Harvy Guritz, Will Bauermeister, Martin Bauermeister, Milford Guritz. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Petersburg.
