The Following Nov. 11, 1926, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 5:

    DEATH OF ESTIMABLE LADY

    Mrs. Caroline Hayden, widow of the late Cyrus Hayden, who has been in poor health for some time, passed away yesterday morning at 1 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clifford Gorball. Funeral services will be held at the Christian church tomorrow, Friday, at 1:30 p.m.

    PIONEER GONE

    Mrs. Caroline Hayden was born in Yellowhead Township, Kankakee County, Illinois, June 15, 1846, and departed this life November 10, 1926, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clifford Gorball, having reached the ripe age of 80 years, 4 months and 25 days. She was the second daughter of Woster and Eliza Cleaver.

    During her girlhood days she was a leader in the song service at the Christian church at Sherburnville, Illinois, later confessing her faith in Christ.

    On September 1, 1864, she was united in marriage with Cyrus Hayden, traveling life's pathway together until her husband preceded her to that Great Beyond July 15th, 1923.

    During this time, with the exception of two years, they lived in West Creek Township, moving to the old homestead in May of 1867, where their daughter Mrs. William Einspahr and husband now live, then only a prairie, and began farming on 80 acres.

    Two sons and three daughters were born to this union; Loren W. and Flora, died in childhood.

    She leaves to mourn her departure, Mrs. Myrtle Einspahr, Thuel and Mrs. Mamie Gorball, with their families, consisting of four grandchildren; also, two brothers, Jasper Cleaver, of Kankakee, and Maurice Cleaver, of Joliet, with a host of relatives and friends.

    Funeral services were held at the Christian church of Lowell, on Friday, November 12th, at 1 p.m. Rev. J.B. Dunkleberger, of Sheldon, Ill., preached the funeral discourse. Interment was made in the West Creek cemetery. Wm. Sheets had charge of the burial services. The following acted as pallbearers: Ernest VanAlstine, Jodie Hayden, Merritt Hayden, Merritt Kelsey, Llewellyn Smith.
