DEATH OF ELDRED ENNIS
Eldred Ennis, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Ennis, died at the home of his parents Sunday morning. He was about 15 years of age and the cause of death was pneumonia. Funeral services will be held at the Christian church at 2 p.m. today (Thursday). Obituary next week.This June 19, 1924, Lowell Tribune obituary appeared on page 1, column 1:
- Eldred, son of George Carlton and Elva Lenora Ennis, was born June 1, 1909, and answered the call of the Good Shepherd at nine o'clock Sunday morning, June 8, 1924, having attained the age of fifteen years and seven days. He was born at Chicago Heights, Ill., where he attended the Baptist church until his removal to Steiger, where he attended the Congregational church. At Glenwood he attended an interdenominational Sunday school and church.
Since his residence in Lowell, he has been a faithful member of Walter Einspahr's class of boys at the Church of Christ Sunday school and a regular attendant of the Christian Endeavor of which he was an honored member. He was patrol leader in the local troop of Boy Scots under the direction of his pastor.
Eldred was taken ill May 31st and succumbed after a valiant struggle to pneumonia. He is survived by a loving father and mother, one sister, Lela, two brothers, Ernest and Ray, and a host of relatives and friends, who keenly feel his loss.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ, Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, with Mr. Weaver as funeral director in charge of the funeral. Rev. Fred Gibson was in charge of the services and preached the funeral sermon. Miss Florence Spofford sang, accompanied by Mrs. Fred Gibson on the piano. Flower girls were: Dorothy Taylor, Ruth Anderson, Neva Smith, May Yates, Evelyn Hayhurst, Rachel Williams, Evelyn Schmidt, Jean Iddings, Velva Davis. The pall-bearers were: Guy Worley, Elmer Anderson, Glenn Yates, Wayne Petry, Sheridan Ruge and Glenn Steward.
Many beautiful floral wreaths and sprays of flowers were sent by a host of loving friends and relatives.
