HAYHURST - HAYDEN
On Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1886. At the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hayden, of Yellow-head, Mr. Eldon Hayhurst, of Momence, Ill., was united in marriage to Miss Lizzie Hayden.A circle of relatives and friends were present to witness the ceremony which took place at 12 o'clock. The dinner after the marriage was a feast indeed.
Every one did justice to the eatables, everything passed off pleasantly and this happy occasion will be long remembered by those present.
The Rev. Wason made a host of friends by his easy, affable manner and will be remembered with pleasure by his esteemed friends, and he also threw the traditional slipper after them and wished them much happiness.

A copy of the following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
- Harriet Lizzie Hayden, daughter of John K. and Rachel (Dodge) Hayden, was born in Kankakee County, Ill., December 30, 1866. She died at her home in West Creek Township, December 8, 1904. She resided at her place of birth until December 22, 1886, when she was united in marriage to Elden N. Hayhurst. Since she was united in marriage she has lived in Indiana near her old home. This union was blessed by five children, the second child being taken to the Heavenly home while in infancy. At the age of sixteen Mrs. Hayhurst united with the Christian church of Sherburnville, Ill. She was always a strong believer in Christian doctrine, having been for several years leader in the choir. She was at al times a most devoted wife and loving mother. She leaves a husband, four children -- one son and three daughters: Lyrrell, Ketchel*, Eleanor and Rubie, her mother, two sisters: Mrs. W.R. Beeman residing near Monticello, Ind., Mrs. J.W. Diss, near Sherburnville, Ill. Three brothers: Robert, of Providence Forge, Va., Alva, of Roanoke, Ind., Jesse, of Illinoi, Ill. A large circle of other relatives and friends also mourn her departure. The funeral was in charge of Funeral Director Castle. The service was held at the West Creek M.E. church, Rev. Dunning Idle officiating. The M.E. quartette furnished the music. The interment was in the West Creek cemetery. The esteem in which the deceased was held was evidenced by the large attendance at the funeral; the church not being half large enough to accommodate those who came to show their grief because of her departure and their sympathy for the loved ones she left behind.
* NOTE -- Harriet Lizzie Hayhurst's son's first name was actually "Kitchel" rather than "Ketchel."
