"Add" Clark, 81 Lifetime Resident of Cedar Creek, Dies
J. Addison Clark was born in Cedar Creek Township, Lake County, Ind., on Nov. 25, 1872, and passed away on February 21, 1954, at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital after a short illness. He was the son of Joseph A. and Arabelle Hull Clark."Add," as everyone knew him, was united in marriage to Jessie Hayden on December 19, 1900, and spent the following two years on his father's farm. From there he and his wife moved to the George Clark farm where he resided until his death. To this union were born seven children, two of whom precede him in death.
Mr. Clark joined the Colfax Masonic Lodge on March 30, 1915, and was a member of the Lake County farm Bureau. He was a charter member and the first overseer of the Agricultural Group of the Indian Trail Grange when it was formed in 1938. Up until the last few years he was an active member of the Lake County Fair Association.
With his wife, Jessie Hayden Clark, he leaves two daughters and three sons, Dorris Rizer of Villa Park, Ill., Ruth Fisher of Chicago, Donald and George of Lowell and Joseph A. of Milford, Ind; twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Beatrice Brownell of Lowell. Memorial services were conducted by Rev. E.L. Worley at 2 o'clock on February 24, Wednesday afternoon, at Sheets Funeral Home. Frank Childress sang, "Beyond the Sunset." Pall bearers were Elmer Childress, Gerald Childress, Earle Tenner, John Amey, James Hayden and Robert Vandercar. Interment was made in Lowell cemetery.
Mr. Clark, a man of unblemished character, was highly respected by all who knew him, and his passing leaves a void in the community which no other can fill.

Grange Honors Deceased Members
Memorial services for deceased members were held Monday evening at the regular meeting of the Indian Trail Grange. The Rev. Harold Hotchkiss delivered the brief talk during the service. The names of deceased members were read in chronological order and candles lit for Harriet Black, Winfred Bryant, Add Clark, and Della Everett, the four who passed away this year.Return to Biographies.
