    China Wedding

Last Saturday, January 21st, marked the twentieth mile post in married life of Mr and Mrs. Simon Hill, of southeast of Lowell. They commemorated the event by the festival of the China Wedding. Over one hundred invitations were sent to their friends, but owing to the prevalence of Grippe in this vicinity, only about one-half those receiving invitations were able to attend. But to those that were there it was a genuine pleasure visit; made so by the genial host and hostess in leaving nothing undone that would in any way add to the pleasure of their visitors. The day was spent in social chat and was enjoyed greatly by all present. The dinner, of which 58 partook, prepared by the hostess, was one fit for a king, and was partaken of by all present with zest and enjoyment. The hour of separation having arrived the visitors took their departure for their homes, wishing their host and hostess may live to celebrate their diamond wedding. Following is a list of the guests present and presents received:

Lew Pattee and family, Lew McNay and family, Nick Minninger and family, I.E. Griffith and family, John Hill and wife, H.N. Clement and wife, John Young and wife, Henry Clement and family, full set of China dishes containing one hundred pieces; J.O. Clark and family, Niles Clement and family, Will Spry and wife, David Pulver and family, Lester Wallace and family, one China chamber set containing eight pieces; George Fisher and wife, China salad dish, comb tray and match safe; O.W. Hill and wife, China cheese dish; Volney Foster and wife, decorated China lamp; Ray Hill and wife, China salad dish and one dozen butter chips; W.H. Allen and family, China cake dish; Charlie Sanders and wife, China card receiver; A.V. Bryant and wife, one-half dozen butter chips; Perry Jones and wife, silver dollar; C.J. Hill and family, Japanese tea pot and plate; Sydney Sanger, Japanese vase; Frank Fuller, China plate; Mrs. Carrie Sanger, double China fruit dish; Miss Jennie Vandecarr, China cracker jar and picture of husband, S.J. Hill, on a button; Mother Vandecarr, sugar bowl and creamer.

Mr. and Mrs. John Young and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hill were not able to attend, but sent and assisted in getting a fine present, hence their names appear in the above.
